-BFG mud-terrain (m/t) maybe the all-terrain (a/t) i dont remember if the a/t comes in 35
-Super Swamper makes alot of 16.5s more than anyone
-Parnelli Jones Dirt Grips-my next tire
BFG probably best on road, Parnelli probably not as good but still good and great look and preformance off-road, super swamper the SSR is probably best bet from them unless its all mud then get boggers, some people say the SSR is ok on road but my understanding is its a 15k mile tire highway (Super Swampers aren't great tires if your on the street most of the time)
16.5" rims were kind of an ilegitimate child to begin with. Now everyone is pretty much going to 16", 17", 18" or 20". 16.5" wheels won't fit on 2005 up Super Duties, and a lot of other newer trucks.
Edit/ Sorry, didn't know that was considered a bad word here, I have changed it to a less offensive word.

This is probably the biggest reason right there. I do think that 16.5 tires will be around for at least a little while longer if for nothing other than overruns from the US military market. This will be most likely restricted to M/T tires though.
Last time I went shopping for new tires...
Almost every dealer, and even asked some of my buddies that work for tire places...
They all said the same thing... most manufacturers are getting rid of this size... not sure exactly why, but thats what they all said
I am sure there will be military tires of that size still, but it will become more and more difficult to find this size tire...
