1988 / 1989 C6 Question

I have someone relatively local who is parting out an 89 F250 351w 4x4. He's not a Ford guy but knows his F250 has a three speed automatic. Is it safe to assume that this has to be a C6 that should bolt right up to my 88 F250 351w 4x4? What's a good price to offer for it? He claims it has a little over 100k on it and worked fine. I was thinking of picking it up as a spare if the price is right....

Thx

Has to be a C6, as I don't think there was any other 3 speed auto ever offered in an 80's F250. Should be the same tranny and with over a 100k on it, I wouldn't offer him more than a few $20 bills honestly. You'd be basically buying a core for a rebuilder. . .

Then again, you could try rebuilding it yourself

I was actually thinking of trying to rebuild it myself. Having it as a spare will give me the luxury of doing the rebuild at my leisure.

Are you saying that good C6 cores are out there for under $100??

Thx
