I can't find traction bars for my truck, all the listings stop after 2002.
The rear end on mine is mounted on the bottom of the leaf springs so
the traction bars need to clear the rear end.
I have a 2007 XL 3.0 5 speed stick with 31s and Rancho shocks.
My problem is off road climbing the long dirt roads here in Arizona. Some are very steep and my back wheels start wheel hopping. I have limited slip and a stock suspension. The truck climbs just fine until I hit any high spots the the hopping starts.
Will these clear the rear end? http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
Summit won't give me a straight answer they just say "buy the universal ones".
Notes: Designed for vehicles that have leaf springs mounted below the axle tube.
Our Rangers have the leafs mounted on the top of our axles. Other than that technicality if you can find a universal set that works for above axle leafs you more than likely could make it work. They are "Universal" after all. You can always sell them to me to put on my Chevelle if they dont work out!
And there is the problem, they are for Rangers but stop at 2002, mine is a 2007. Lakewood also said universal but didn't give a part number or why they stop at 2002.
VERY frustrating.
The traction bars stop axle wrap on hard excelleration, but won't stop that wheel hop you get on hard pact. I experienced the same thing when I would wheel in W,Va, I would be climbing on a hard pact trail and would get the wheel hop, mainly going up hill. That comes from having a stiff suspension and thats what you want on a 4x4 for off/road. After a while you just get use to it, one thing that does help is to air down your tires a little. I done this for better traction in the rocks and noticed it stopped a lot of the wheel hop. Mainly, you just sorta get use to it, I've heard some say that a good quality lift kit can help in this area, I only had my t-bars cranked, so I really don't know.
James Duff traction bars installed tonight. It's raining in Phoenix so I had the chance to test them and NO WHEEL HOP!!!!! I need the off road test also but it seems like a winner. The rear suspension is stiffer for sure.
