I have a 1978 f100 pickup that i put a 351w h.o. with holley 600 cfm carb and c6 trans with 3.50 gear rear end, in about 1 and 1/2 year ago. The problem is, it only getting 9 mpg of gas, this is on the highway. Is there any tuning i can do to help this? When i installed the engine it got the normal tuneup, plugs, wires, cap and rotor. I also put a reman carb on it. Any tips is greatly appreciated.
More completely burning the fuel will give not only power but mileage to boot!! So a
performance coil and gapping the plugs a bit wider and playing with the timing until it
detonates and backing off will help. Start opening the gap up and see how it runs, then open up some more, Be sure to use antisieze on them plug threads since you will
be removing the plugs a couple times!!
