open pipes?

I have a stock 2000 F-350 I want to remove the muffler will this hurt the engine ? I have heard it will help my milage and would sound much better. any advise

which engine so you have? it will definatly be louder

The muffler is the biggest restriction on the 7.3L exhaust system. Removing it will greatly reduce backpressure and will help lower EGT's.

all the turbo fords sound great without the muffler. they arent very loud, cops dont even lok at you. dont try this with a non-turbo engine.

The mpg gain if any will be too small to notice. If anything it'll drop as you'll be inclined to stomp the pedal more often to hear the sweet sound it produces. It will not hurt but help the engine as the EGT's might drop a few degrees.
