Blue smoke is oil. White or grey smoke is fuel.

How is blue smoke normal? Blue smoke indicates oil is getting past the rings and is being burned. Unburned fuel from a cold engine at start up is always white or grey.

The best way to tell the source is to smell the smoke.

the smoke normally has a LIGHT blue tint to it... i'm not sure if he means a heavy blue or a white-blue (which is normal)
