paint code question on 77

Not sure about something (even though it's post facto) and would like to get some information. My truck was originally copper poly over some kind of tan, I'm just doing a repaint and went with copper poly over white:

Here's what it looked like, although I think some of it was rattle can:

Did Ford sell them with copper poly and white or was it the tan only?

You could probably have it either way.

The Same as 76

As original.

No such thing as "Poly" (polyurethane) paint on any Ford truck.

Ford paints from day one: 1903/1912: Colored Varnish / 1913/1924: Black Varnish / 1925/1959: Duco Enamel / 1960/1980's: Acrylic Enamel / 1980's/ Two Stage Water Based Base Coat/Clear Coat.

>>> The PAINT code will be found on your trucks Rating Plate, left door face near the latch. If tu-tone, two symbols will be used. Either letter/number, two numbers, or two letters. <<<

Note: Look above the line for the paint code, not below.

Any solid color could be combined with Wimbledon White.

Possible Ford colors/codes on your 1978 Ford that match the pictures:

2 = Medium Copper / F or H = Dark Brown Metallic / P = Dark Nectarine Metallic.

This calls several colors "poly" which I don't think stands for polyurethane

Z is Copper Metallic.

The other code could be an M = Wimbledon White if that's what the truck used originally to go along with Z.
47 is..?

EDIT: 4 is Tan Metallic, so what the 7 is, I dunno.

7 could be part of another code on that plate.

(in the color chart, 7 is yellow, that can't be right ).

Good 'ol Roadrunner Hi-speed internet, has been sporadic today.

The dang bird must be tripping over rocks. Lost 1/2 of my edited posts so far.
