Coolant circulation for heater

Need some help here. I just spent the weekend fixing the infamous broken blend door on my brother in law's 99 Expy. Test drive, no heat. Blend door is working fine so I checked the lines to the heater core (both front and rear) and they were ice cold and empty. He had a new radiator put in the beginning of the year and I'm wondering if the system is possibly air bound? We parked it on an incline to try and bleed the system out but no dice. The weird thing is the coolant is going through the block and it's not overheating so I'm assuming that the thermostat is okay. Is there any sensor or valve for the heating system? Any other ideas?

I have the same problem and I thought about air lock also. I am told that some vehicles have a bleeder valve

No bleeder valve in this case unfortunately. It turned out to be the water pump believe it or not. All of the blades were worn off the impellar to the point where there was only enough pressure to be able to circulate through the coolant through the block. So, the truck ran at a normal operating temp but there was no heat.

Replaced the water pump and flushed the system twice and it seems to be good now.
