What kind of Snow Plows do you guys use?... Pictures would be cool. I am just seeing what is out there... I searched the other night and found a C-Plow (http://www.hiniker.com/snow_products/hp_cplow.html) which was pretty cool.. I would like to see how many people actually do plow..
Surf to www.letstalksnow.com It is a treasure trove of information including a ton of stuff for new plowers, what plows to buy, where to buy, how much, service hints, business information, etc.
The Hiniker unit is a solid unit, depending what you are planning to plow. It is not the most advanced either in control, hydraulics, or electrical system.
I ran a Fisher 7'6" Minute mount on my 95 F-150, but when I took the 150 off the road and bought the 05 SD, I went with a 8'2" Boss V blade. Man what a differernce!! I liked how the old straight blade pushed with the Pro wing's attached at the ends, but the V is SOOOO much more capable! A lot of the guys around here run the Meyers stuff, but I have no experience with them. I just know the Western, Fisher, and Boss plows hold up well.
Yeah, I was just cerious b.c Here in illinois we get some what alot of snow and Well me and my dad both use the same truck and what not but we use a ultra mount 8' western and we had it for 2 years I think and we havnt had many problems all we had was that when we push the button to go left or right or somthing it would go down and idk what else it did but who knows... But thanks for the information and websites...
I run a regular duty Fisher, and we get lots of snow here too. Not uncommon to get 2' storms. Always a good idea to "plow with the storm", but if you get behind having a deflector mounted on top of the plow really helps. It'll keep snow from coming over the top and packing under your truck.
Yeah.. I just thought that the Cplow was Really interesting.. never saw one before and I was just searching and I was like wow thats pretty sweeet... Me and my dad run the same truck F-250 V10 2005 and we had to get the alternator changed to a bigger one b.c we plow and we also pull a fifth wheel down south and to are local campground and I pull my dirtbikes and stuff down to the river.. and the truck only has 13,000 on it so it hasnt even been broken in yet.

The "C" plow is handy if you plan to plow a lot of front-load garages or loading docks that require back-dragging. There are however a number of more sophisticated plows available that are more than up to midwest snow. Take a look at the 8' SnoWay and the Blizzard Speedwing. Either would work nicely on your truck. Both are probably more productive than the Western, also have a little slicker mounting systems.
Post your Western problem on LTS(site I suggested above) and you should be able to get some diagnostic help.
