In the 2nd link notice the term Expect/Expected/Should.
Most oils on the shelf are CI or newer (CJ). CG is the last api that has the additive to combat sulfuric acids. Sulfuric acid is the byproduct from the fuel in the combustion chamber (from 500ppm or higher).
This has to do with long term effects (engine wear/corrode).
If you use high sulfur fuel you need to use a api of CG or less to keep piston rings and cyl bores from erroding. Its a 2 way street. If you use the CG with ULSD the additive will build up as carbon behind the piston ring causing excessive cyl wear.
I have to see if i still have copy's of the letters sent out by our good old US Goverment to the electric power plants on this issue.
Opinion---
This all is another step to get all older diesels off the roads. Just like gas has emissions. It gets old cars off the roads.
Yep, I agrees with ya on the emissions. I did a little searching on it and it sounds like its the real high sulfur (1000-5000) is what kills ya on the engine wear. Anyhow, the oil I run right now is CH-4, CG-4, CF-4, CF. Good information to know down the road.
some CO-OP's sell off road fuel and even some gas stations have off road fuel. but beware thats where most ppl get busted for running off road fuel. if a cop saw you pumping in red no way your getting out of that ticket.
or you should be able to call your local fuel/oil company and they can deliver it in bulk.

I just Googled Rotella T and their claim is that In July 21 they were delivering oil that met CJ-4 by the barrel and it was available Oct 15th in quarts, gallons and pails.
i uh "accidentaly" pumped some red in at a station and as i was pumping with one tank full, one half full, a state trooper goes by. looks right at me. slows down. oh SH##! i exclaimed. i think he went to turn around. i swipped my credit card and lit out like a bomb doin off
