Had a 6.0l come in the shop beause it like to leave a nice puddle of oil on the ground. After looking at it, it was the upper oil pan seal. So after looking at the pros and cons of it we decided to pull the motor. Had really nothing to do, getting a bit boring over here. So after replacing it and putting it back in started it up and oil is leaking out of it. Oh no not from the upper oil pan seal that we just replaced but from the bottom of the oil cooler??? How the hell? Didn't do nothing to it. Didn't touch it, didn't drop nothing on it. So here we go again and started pull the top half off. Pull the oil cooler off and seperated it from the base of it and notinced a "bubble" on the o-ring. Why now? Why didn't it show up before? Wish it was this all along. Tired of seeing this in the shop. Only been here for 4 1/2 months.
Trying to find out how or why the oil cooler is leaking when nothing was done to it. Only 3000 miles on the motor. Thought o-rings were supose to last longer than 3000 miles. Sorry just pissed with it.
Don't worry about the post. I think I'm going crazy. No really. Tired of being here and tired of working on broken trucks that have been "rigged" just to get them out the door. Just need to vent. Sorry.
I grew up near the KY Ford truck plant and knew a lot of people who worked there. It was years ago, but some of the stories they told at the time would sure make you understand why lemon laws were invented. I guess all big factory assembly lines are at risk in that way. Get a couple thousand people in a room, a few are gonna be bad apples. I've never been a professional mechanic but I can definitely understand how aggrivating the work can be when you see a nearly new truck broken because somebody hates their job at the plant.
