I think I chose my body color today, it is the Midland Maroon which was a Ford car color 47-53 ? It is quite dark, which will likely show up my body work imperfections, but I'm struck on the two tone maroon - charcoal combination.
Hope to have the cab spot painted by mid December which will allow final ( I hope ) assembly of cab to frame and all pedals, etc.
Sounds great Tom, I`m near this stage myself. I`ll be watching for pictures.
I have a hard time in deciding on final color on my 56, it does take some thought to nail down a final choice. I`ve now decided on a med blue metalic, a later model Ford color.
I also like the 2 tone combo. I might go back to the dark blue or maybe a lighter blue with black running boards. I first thought about going with a silver with charcoal fenders, I think it would look pretty good. The colors you are going with would look great to. The maroon woth charcoal fenders would look real good. Post some pics so we can see it.
With the cost of paint and reds in particular it is good to scan a color onto a photo of your truck and see what it would look like. The color you mention is a very nice red and similar to Ford Mid Canyon Red which I used on my 52 and it looked real good, but you are correct about showng even the small holidays. Do post pics if poss.

I'm close to being at the same spot you are also. I have the cab & doors completed and ready for paint, but have been working on the front fenders. I just ordered my paint last night. Candy apple red single stage. I was thinking about painting the grill a grey metallic and see how that will go with the red. Eventually I would like to get a new 56 chrome grill. But thats a ways down the tunnel.
That colour looks close; the Midland Maroon has a metal flake in it, poly is the term they used. The running boards, fenders will be a deep charcoal, not grey very close to black. I went with a dark grey on my bench seat, in hind site I would have preferred a slightly darker colur but I did not want to have to sit on a towel all summer when we get ofur "hotter" weather.
