Front driveshaft always spin

Does the front driveshaft always spin even in 4x2?

i think it does.... since the way that the 4x4 is engaged is with the hubs.... and not in the transfer case... that would tell me that as long as the truck is moving, the t-case is spinning, therefore driving the front driveshaft and axles..... but they just arent engaged into the hubs until you hit the switch.

no

they are stationary until the transfer case is placed in 4x4

the hubs are disengaged in 4x2 as well

the only manufacturer that uses constant motion driveshafts is Dodge/Jeep

so then the dash switch serves a dual purpose?? to send an electrical signal to the t-case, and to also control the hubs?

The IWE's lock when the switch is turned to 4x4 the drivshaft then comes up to speed and the t case locks.

The drive shat will start to tune on the highway because of drag/moment of axles ETC.
But not much .

Just place a chaulk mark on shaft anf=d take a ride at 65 MPH .

yep, it tells the IWE soleniod to release the vacuum and switches the 4x4 selector motor on the t-case

yep, that's why Ford/Chevy don't use the constant velocity stuff. our trucks would lose 2-3 mpg easily if they did
