Driving today I noticed my front driveshaft spinning. I was in 2wd high, pulled over and verified. My hubs were unlocked. Why would this happen? Does my t case need rebuilt?
How did you see the front driveshaft spinning while driving? Sounds like you need new floor pans.
I'm guessing it is due to minor frictional forces back feeding through your hubs or T-case. If you were able to provide some resistance it would probably stop spinning.
If I get the sun just right I can see the shadow. The colder it is outside, the faster it spins.
I'm guessing that it's very early morning or very late evening when the sun is very low that you noticed this ... It's not unusual.
The colder it is outside, the colder the transfer case is and the colder the lube in the 205 is, and the thicker the already thick lube (in a NP-205) becomes, the more "windage" whipped up by rotating internals in the transfer case leading to front shaft rotating.

I can see the driv3shaft through my shifter hole in the floor. I havent gotten around to fabbIng and installing a boot yet. Would you say the friction is causing a problem or is something you would not worry about?
