So I have 315/15/16 I was wondering what it does to my trip meter, odometer, and speedo. If i go 100 miles at 70 am I really going 70 and did I really go 100 miles? Thanks Guys
You can check it with some help, get on the interstate and set your speed at 60 mph and have your help clock you as you drive by the mile markers. If your doing 60, then it should be exactly 1 minute.
Hope this helps, Bill
i got on the interstate and set my cruise . . . for every mile i travel, my odometer registers .9, so i figure my truck is 10% off. so when i think i travelled 100 miles, it is actually 110, or when i think it was 500, its 550
Divide your new tire diameter by your old one i.e. 35/31=1.129. This means your new tire diameter is about 113% of your old tire, for example. So you will always go 13% faster that your speedo reads, 13% further than your odo says, etc. Just plug in your tire sizes.

but what if you were not sure how fast you were going in the first place????
I dont know about you guys, but when I first bought my truck, when my speedo said I was doing 55, it was closer to 50

Then I guess your boned...
I suppose it never hurts to measure your actual ride height and program your speedo accordingly, even if you've got stock rubber.
for me, it was exactly 7%. 100 miles = 107 70=75 60=64.2, ect, Checked with a clock, as well as a radar gun(= ticket), followed up with a GPS.
Fixed with a Hypertech
I am running 38's and do not have my speedo recalibrated. I do have a hypertech... how did you fix it with the hypertech? whenever I program my truck it doesnt ask about tire sizes?
my tires are smaller then stock, and ruffly at 45mph im really doing 40mph according to the gps anyways. but at 80mph on the truck the gps is at like 72mph. so it gets worse as i go faster. i think i have like 245/75/16's .. but R worn down some as well.

My speedo was off about 4 mph, going 75, you'd see 71 on the GPS, so when I put the new dash lay on i set the needle to read what the GPS did, now that I went to 285s my speed is off again. But if you leave it alone and run 285s you'll be pretty much dead on.
