So what is up with the HD? I was coming home from work ,when I look in the mirror and on my *** is a flamed HD.All they won't to do is play,so to make a long store short it was no contest for me.This is the second time in the last 2 weeks, that a HD has chased me .So what im looking for is some info on these HD. Are they SC or not.Is there anything special about these trucks, but the HD badge.Don't get me wrong I like these trucks.
The early HD trucks were just 5.4's. In 02' (Icould be wrong) they were S/C. Exactly the same as the Lightnings with the exception of the upper pulley.(it was bigger) On to the new style... There is a ton of variations to the HD. Some can be had with the S/C. Not to mention the bigger Super Duty HD's with or w/o the Powerstroke.
I was referring to the 01 to 04 style. A co worker said that the special edition only come with S/C.Im just interested. thanks
The Harley's are already special editions, just like the Kings Ranch.
The 2002 and 2003 HD trucks were supercharged.
They have the same engine internals as the SVT Lightnings.
Everything is exactly the same between the HD's and the L's, motor wise and tranny wise, the only difference is the supercharger.
Lightning's have a 2.9 s/c pulley, while the Harley's have a 3.1 s/c pulley.
The engines were made in the same SVT plant as the Lighnting's were, and then shipped to the plant in Kansas where they were mated to the HD truck in '02 and '03.
While some L's have Eaton stamped on them, or SVT, depending on the year of the truck, the '02/'03 HD's have nothing stamped on them.
The '02 HD has a grey Eaton, while the '03 HD has a black Eaton. And just like the Lightning cylinder heads, the heads in the '02 and early '03 HD's have 4 spark plug thread holes, while the later model '03's have 8 threads.
I don't know a whole lot about the HD trucks. My buddy in SoCal (he owns a wicked, nicely built HD) was the actual provider for that info, and I had posted it last year sometime in another thread.
