This is my first post here. I have a 2001 superduty crew 4x4 v10. Been working on it past two nights. Broken manifold studs in head. What is the best way to get out? Also the cruise control just stoped working fuse is fine is there a relay? And the door ajar light some times stays on when the doors are all closed any ideas? thankyou
Manifold: Spray Spray Spray plenty of WD-40. If there is any sticking out try vise grips otherwise you have to drill the center and use an eze out tool.
Cruise: Has the recall been fixed on yours? There was a problem with them and the local dealer fixed mine at no cost with 158,000 miles on it.
Door: Spray Spray Spray WD-40 into the latch mechanism of the door. That is where the switch is for the interior light which is also the door ajar circuit if the key is switched on.
Use the stainless studs from the dealer...I welded on my broken one's with a mig welder and used vise grips...Had to reweld many times on two of them. Some guy's weld a nut on them..Drilling is tough but if you don't have a welder then........Drill away don't break easy out off or you'll be in the ****ttttttttttttt. Some guys use reverse drills. Use Kroil for oil soak or PB blaster wd doesn't work.
I'm not sure exactly when they started with the stainless studs and nuts but the TSB that mentions them came out in March I think.
The Ford part number for the studs is W703902-S403 and for the nuts is W701706-S2.
Most dealers probably stock lots of them.
