Smile Going to do a test

Last tank of fuel I averaged 12.6 MPG. Thats mostly around town and shifting at 2750 RPM and doing the posted speed limit, (65 or 70 where posted).
This new tank of fuel I plan on shifting at 2000 RPM and doing the speed limit except limiting my speed to 55 MPH. Oh thats going to be hard but I am going to do it.
I am curious what my mileage will be. I'll let you know my next fill up.

I think you'll see 14.5+. We are supposed to give our best guess on the outcome, aren't we?

I'll guess you'll get close to 18. My averages in warm weather are 17-19

I assume we're talking running empty. I didn't see what rear end you have but 17 should be attainable rather easily if you don't try and accelerate too quickly up to 2000. That may be hard for you to do if your used to shifting that high.

F350, I am always loaded. It is a service truck with a complete set of tool, parts, 200# hoist, air compressor and welder. I think I have 4.11 gears. Anyway 55 MPH is 1750 RPM.

You are right, shifting @ 2000 RPM is hard to do and I find myself instinctivly going higher before I think to shift. I did 125 miles today and the fuel gauge is still at the full mark. I heard a couple of horns too.

Let em blow the horns. Your trucks bigger then what they're driving. Not to mention thats a lot of weight to get moving. Take your sweet ole time. Some days its just fun pissing people off.

With 4.11 gears, I'm thinking 15-16ish. I get that in my auto with 3.73s NOT being nice to it around town. My best is just under 19 averaging 60-65ish. When I run it at 70, I get around 17.5 on the interstates. 70 is just below the 2000 RPM mark on my truck.
