Name that Carb

I am trying to ID my carb but I cant seem to find the info I need. The truck is a 1976 F250 Camper Special with a 390. I am pretty sure it is not original - I believe it came with a 4bbl and this looks like 2bbl.

Thanks!

No carb ID tag I presume. It's triangular shaped and bolts to the airhorn. Code will be similar to: D3TF-AA

Both 390 2 and 4V were available.

4th digit in the VIN is the engine code: H = 1973/76 390 2V / M = 1975/76 390 4V. If the code is a Y, it's a 360, and 360's were 2V only.

Ford (not Holley) FE 2V carb overhaul kit 1965/76 = D4AZ-9A586-A (Motorcraft CT-499-D)

I have pictures of it - how do I attach them to the thread? I checked the Holley web site (the carb says Holley on the front) to find where their P/N is located - it is LIST-7508-1 1360. I cannot find it anywhere on their site.

What is stamped into the Air horn of that carb?
That should have been a Holley 4bbl and the List number should be stamped on it.

Or

R-6946-1A,D5TE-EA or D5TE-GB

Possibly- R6829A or AAA, R6830A or AAA, 6946A 6947A 6948A or 1A, 6949Aor AAS or 1A,D5TE-DAor DB,FA,FB,GA

Ask FTE guru Mil1ion for help...he's the expert on these trucks and owns them, too. I haven't owned one since 1988. All I can do is read/type Ford part numbers.

Welcome to FTE

It is a 2bbl - obviously not stock since you and I both believe it was a 4bbl originally.

The air-horn reads:
LIST-7508-1
1360

Well first let's decifer the engine as many times 360's magically turn into 390's at selling time.

360's came with 2bbls

Get me the :
1) 4th digit of VIN#
2) ALL the casting numbers off of the heads & Block.

Note: You may have to physically measure the stroke because on the exteriopr ther 352/360/390 are identical.

That list number is for a Holley 2bbl.

Here is a thread I recall from 2002

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/2...lley-carb.html

The 4th digit is M (code for 4bbl). There is a sticker on the valve cover that says it is "Engine Family 360/390" and "Engine Displacement 390". I have pics I can post - I just don't know how...

Thanks for all your help!

Well that is still on a removable and swappable item.

We need to verify without a shadow of a doubt what crankshaft is in it.

Yes - Mil1ion is definitely THE man! It's raining right now (that's what I get for living in Seattle) so I will have to check those head/block cast #'s later.

Thank you!
