running a 240 in a 66' f250 and it has a carter 1bbl. hate it, always having some kind of problem. daily driver and the mileage is going down. Is there a holly single carb i can use? is it worth it?
I just had my one barrel rebuilt. I saw a 2 to 4 at clifford but that would mean an intake change I was looking at putting a webber on mine at one time they are progressive 2 barrles. and it should not affect the fuel anymore than the 1 barrel depending on how it is driven. I had my 240 up to 85 mph with the one barrel It did not have a tack so I am not sure how fast it was spinning.

Carter 1bbl? Not original to the truck, someone stuck it on there. No 1965/72 Ford used a Carter carb originally. It's prolly off a Studebaker! (If you have the carb number, I have a book that lists all the parts). The original carb was an Auto-Lite, or in a few cases a Holley. The 240 I-6 Auto-Lite carb is the same for cars and trucks from 1965 through 1972.

LOL, I have a Carter 1 bbl on my 66 240. Took it my NAPA store and they identified it as belonging to a 74 Maverick 200. Just finished rebuilding it this morning and she seems to run just fine. (I had a bad float and it kept flooding.) All is well now...
