Another idea would be to buy a new 08' chassis with a 137" wheelbase and drop the Ex body tub on it. Benefits would be the newer drivetrain, suspension, and dash. Downside would be the wiring mods and the physical labor involved.

I'm pretty sure it won't just "drop on". The frame for the Ex is quite different than the P/U. But a good idea about the updated drivetrain!

Nothing wrong with dreaming

It would seem pretty odd to me that Ford would build a seperate frame for the Ex when it already has about a dozen or so superduty frames already. But I've been wrong before.

Yeah...I hear ya. There is a cross section view of both frames somewhere in the forums. From the front to the cab is the same but from the back seat to the tail is all different.

The pic looks like an '08 short bed p/u they made an Ex. out of. It's probably easier.

Take Care

Jeez!

It sure is a good thing that YOU posted that reponce...........I'm sure that with your vast knowledge through your 11 posts and inability to use the search feature that you already know that this topic has been covered at least a half dozen times and it has been said twice as many times as that(that would be 6 times & 12 times, so you don't need to search) that anyone could preform this mod with enough money........I'd love to go on but but its not worth wasting my time............

So you could get the front frame clip of a 4x4 2005-2007 SuperDuty and put it on the Excursion to get the coil springs?

Xhunter, that is the reason why i posted that response. I have seen this topic in i think three different threads (if i can remember right). At the end of those threads that had this topic in it, it all came down to how it is possible to do a 08 front end on a ex. It just depends on if u have deep pockets. Now i dont kno how deep of pockets u would need because i have never seen someone do it before and the person who did it post how much it cost and what the build entailed.

U could technically do that but someone on this excursion forum has done it before. He didnt do it that way but he did bolt on a 05 front end (coil springs not grille) and a 05 rear end (differential) on a x. I belive that he had a 01 x. It all depends how smart u r in mechanics

Matt, I was refering to the geneous that said your post was pointless, I just quoted your original post as a reference to his remarks........imo your post was not pointless...you were simply stating what you and others had already said
