My 2005 F-150 SCrew Lariat began having spark knock problems and generally not running well a few months ago. I took it in and dealer said it had 2 bad fuel injectors and replaced them and replaced all of the spark plugs. It was fine for a few days then problems returned. I took it back and he hooked it back up to the computer and said all was fine. After a couple of weeks of spark knock and rough idle, I took it back again and theis time they emailed Ford and Ford said to run a compression test and they said the cylinders were out of spec and I would need a new short block. They have had it three weeks now and are in the process of replacing 2 catalytic converters, all 8 fuel injectors, all spark plugs, the short block and who knows what else. They have assured me that it will be like new when I get it back since they are replacing most everything under the hood. My warranty ran out (3 years old on Nov 4) a week after they started but they said all of this will be covered since it started before the warranty ran out. I asked them how long this new stuff will be covered and they said since my warranty ran out none of it would be covered. This sucks!!!
To make matters worse, I was able to talk witht the tech replacing the parts and he said it was taking a little longer than usual because this was the first 3 valve motor he had replaced and he just started working at this dealership Monday. No, I am not kidding he really said that.
I have not had any real problems with this truck in the first 2 /2 years I had it but in the last six months it has been in the shop as much as it has been out. In addition to this I have had rotors replaced and a new radio put in.
Sorry about the long post but I am at my wits end! What should I do? Or, what can I do? I think at the very least Ford should give me an extended warranty.
