OEM fuel pump
I have a 68 basket case half cab, I am just starting to dig into. It has a 170 straight 6 in that I want to keep. Looking at motor, the fuel pump has been blocked off and the truck had an electric pump on. Since I am not building a performance truck- I wanted to go to a stock mechanical pump. When at the local part store- they say this pump is a combination fuel and vaccum pump. What was the purpose of the vaccum part? I can not imagine what would run off of vaccum besides the vaccum advance on the dist?
