ranger help!!

My cousin owns a 1988 Ranger with the 2.9 liter engine and a standard transmission. After replacing the clutch disk and starter the Ranger only runs when the starter is engaged. As soon as the key is released into the on position, the engine stops running. any advice?

Kinda sounds like a wire got unplugged somewhere while replacing the clutch.

Check the wiring on the starter solenoid if it is on the wrong post it will cause that problem.
