Rapid heat install

I have an 08 F250 PSD CC. I would like to have the rapid heat option installed as it didn't come equiped. How hard is it to have it installed at the dealer? Also does anyone know how $$$$. Thanks, Dan

What is this exactly? I am pretty sure my Lariat has it.

It is a optional supplemental electric heater that gives you instant heat on cold mornings till the engine warms up enough to take over.

Like I said I am pretty sure I have it. How can I tell. I actually have two heat guages, and one picks up right away.

UM . . . ER . . . well, that is the transmission temp gage. We're not talking about a "gage", the supplemental heater is an electric heater element installed in the heater box that provides instant heat. It is only installed as an option in vehicles with dual 160 amp alternators or a single heavy duty one.

I called my dealer yesterday and spoke with my service advisor. He had no idea what I was talking about and transfered me to the parts department. They knew what I was talking about but couldn't find a "kit" that could be added on afterwards.

He said "he thinks" it's probably just an option only available when the dealer or whoever orders the truck. If it isn't put in at the factory, you can't add it.

Of course, I'm not buying it. I will call another dealer tomorrow and see if they know anything more.

Thats what I was afraid of.. I dont live in a super cold climet but it would be nice to have this so the vehicle does not have to run to long to defrost the windshild.....
Thanks....Keep me posted please...

It works really well. Buying it with the truck already having it installed seems to be the way to go. I love mine but you still really should wait until the motor warms up too but it is nice while you wait.

"RapidHeat is an available supplemental heating element on diesel trucks that helps bring the interior temperature up to a comfortable level more quickly. The new F-Series Super Duty marks the first time it's been offered in North America. The self-regulating heater integrates into the HVAC case, improving the temperature of the heater up to 18 degrees F at discharge." I have it in my truck and it works great. I know it is working in two blocks.

Aware of what it is.
The question is can it be added after the truck has been delivered.
