I am not sure, but I don't believe it will work. Look at the placement of the steering box. It is in front of the control arms on the 80's truck, and behind the control arms on yours. You need to find the setup from an older truck, i think maybe 79 back. Someone else I am sure can tell you for sure, but the main thing to look for is gearbox placement.

80 up discs and spindles will not work on the 65 to 79 Twin I beams...

Total differing engineering design.

I'm in the process of converting my 65 to pdb. The donor was a 76 2wd f150 and I'm using the 76 I-beams as well as the spindles, rotors and calipers. So far everything has been a direct bolt up to the 65 radius arms and spring mounts.
I'm also installing power steering and the 76 ps box also bolts right up but I'll need to either shorten the steering column or find one that fits.
To tie it all together I'll use the 76 tie rod hopefully because the spindle tie rod eyes are thicker than the 65s and the angles are different on the pitman arm.

You are on the money through 79. After 1979 year models all of that goes out of the window and does not apply.

BTW, The 76 column is a direct bolt up fit as well. No modification required past the wiring.

im in the process of doing the swap as well. one thing i have not read is that there is a small defrence in the I-beams. the steering stops for hte 79 are molded into the I-beams were the 65 is a bolt. have not figured out what to do about this. for everyone that is looking for the correct master cylinder push rod for manual brakes, CSRP of TX makes a adjustable one for a 65-69 mustang disc conversion that works perfect.

I just completed the swap on my 65 with parts form a 73 F-100. I have pictures in my gallery of the swap. I will post some more of the brake light switch when I get a chance to take them. For the most part it was a pretty easy swap with only a few frustration parts. Most of that had to do with making new brake lines, I had a few leakers that I had to redo.

I also found out after I had everything together that I needed to take the springs off of the 73, once it was on the ground with the I-beams and spindles off the 73 it was fine, but after a test drive around the block it turned into a low rider. With the 73 front springs it sits correctly.

I measured the radius arms from both trucks(the 65 and the 76) and they were identical dimensionally so you can use either one. I prefer the forged look of the original 65 arms over the formed and fabricated look of the 76s.
Most important is amount of wear on either and whether it will affect performance.

im thinking the 79 because the spindle stops are built into the I-beam. and since everything else is 79 it should mactch up as were the 65 stops dont match up 79 spindles. iwas going to try to fugure out a difrent rout, but sense i did not plane ahead if got to take it apart any ways to do the radius arm bushing, so knows the time.

You can park your donor truck beside of your truck, drop both sets on the ground, loose your current, slide the donor under your truck and bolt it all up.

2wd Ford pickups are configured the same from 65 to 79. Every thing from the rear cab mounts to the front bumper is exchangeable.

I noticed in this thread that some posters have said, the stops are molded in
the 73-79 I- beams. The stops are molded into the spindle not the I-beams of
73-79. the older I-beam trucks have a bolt in the I-Beam, that is your stop.

that would be great, but that bolt does not line up with anything and if in the right position it will bind. any ways another ? wasn't paying attention when i took out the king pins(wich could be part of stop problem) does the bearing that comes with the king pin kit go under or over the axle. i put it back together under the axle. it looks right, but want to make sure.
