Adding HP on 2nd Gen
It all sounds great in theory but for me, I'll stick to running timing/boost that I have octane to cover.
"Bingo" showed up to the party!!!!
Boost bypass solenoid.....I made mention of it in the previous post. Yes, there is already one there....but it does not govern anything you add like meth injection.
The add-on allows for the float switch to "tell" the secondary solenoid to activate the bypass solenoid on the truck.
He already has a custom SCT Dyno tune (accept NO substitute!!!) so changing the timing can be done in-cab. Also, the controller has a perimeter range of 0-5v.....so he/she/you/anyone can set the system to activate at WOT, idle....or anywhere in the middle.
Believe me....I'm not on the payroll for Snow....in fact.....my system is basically the same before they came to market with it......guess it could have been my "hula-hoop!"....
Anyway....it is a safe.....AND I DO MEAN SAFE....way to add HP for CHEAP.
As far as the "mix".....
50/50 water methanol for a buck.....store brand wherever you shop for washer fluid.....just make sure it is the "winter mix"....
Methanol won't freeze....therefore.....ammonia is replaced by methanol at a 1:1 ratio to water....just enough to keep your plastic resivoir from splitin during those cold months.....
You can add the ported blower, but even with a port matched upper plenum and throttle body, like wd stated, you'll get a little closer, but not another 50hp.
Plus, with ported blowers, you have to be careful on the L's. They are hit or miss when it come to producing power. Some have had a nice HP increase while suffering zero torque loss, but quite a few L owners have experienced max torque loss when a ported blower has been added.
Yes, the power under the curve looks nicer on a dyno graph, but for some, the gain of HP/loss of torque pretty much canceled out the pro's of getting the s/c ported.

These mods fall under the "every bolt-on known to man" that wd covered in his above post.
However, I would make one notable change. Don't go with the Cobra R water pump. Go with the Navigator pump.
The R pumps actually flow less than your OEM pump (IIRC), which is not good, plus, the Navi pump does the same job as the R, but it flows more!

Well, yes and no.
It all depends on who you have tuning your truck, and what software they use.
For example, I'm not sure what Troyer performance uses, but Troyer is one heckuva tuner, and if he uses a different tuner than SCT, does that diminish his tuning abilities?
Nahhh, not at all.
Sniper Tuning software is starting to make a nice, positive splash in the tuning world too.
Like I said, it all depends on who you use to tune your truck.
Personally, I use the SCT handheld with tunes provided by JJ at Woodbine Motorsports. I used to use Sal at Powersurge Performance, and he tuned my truck with a Predator.
