I've had my 02 for about 6 months now and have been looking for a while to put a brush guard on the front of it. No real reason other than to make it a lot easier to spot in parking lot.
So being as cheap as I am, I didn't want to find a new one or pay that much for it. I've been scanning Craigslist for some time waiting on just the right one to come along. A listing came up for a brush guard for a early 2000's Super duty for $100. No pictures, not much more info, in fact no phone number. So I figured I could always go out and look, then decide if it was what I wanted or not. Made the drive out that afternoon and it was a complete brush guard including the mounting brackets.
I looked all over it for a name or a part number or something I could track down the manufacturer with so I could get installation instructions. I also squirted it with a little black shake and squirt to help clean it up and make the scratches a little less noticable. After starting with up to 11 different companys that make brush guards for these trucks I started going thru each one at a time until I finally found it.
It was a Warn Trans4mer system. It's a push bar, with the brush guard attachments and a receiver option. Priced out new, and I forget where I did, for around $700.
I got it mounted up Sunday afternoon and took some pictures Monday morning. Just thought I'd share them and see what you guys think of my bargain.
I did relocate the tow loops/hooks. That's where this one mounts to the frame. You remove the tow hooks, well let me back up just a bit, remove the bumper, remove the tow hooks then the 3 bolts hold the "frame extensions" to where the hooks were. Then the hooks are re-mounted to the frame extensions which also bolts to the bottom of the uprights.
The upper mount is to the back of the bumper using the same bolts as the top of the bumper mount with a brace running to the frame.
The only other piece is the mount to the edge of the bumper to bolt the loops under the headlights to.
I know, a winch, and of course since this is a Warn unit, I have to buy a Warn winch...
What's the clamp that's next to the bumper? Is that to keep it from vibrating too much? I'd consider painting the metal strap inside the bushing black so it blends in better.
BillyBob, if you want it, I'll tell ya where it sits at night. But after putting it on, you might want to bring a torch to get it off... I didn't want some of those bolts getting loose so I spot welded them...
F350, that's all I can figure those are for. They're a clamp with a rubber grommet inside. They actually bolt to a small strap that bolts to the back of the bumper. Painting those may not be a bad idea....

I think it looks really, really bad. So take it off right away and send it to me and I will dispose of it properly! lol I just might have to put it on my truck and warn everyone about getting ripped off on Craigs list.
I've never understood why people should block out the plate numbers. Is there something I'm missing?
It isn't as easy as it used to be...but if you give a good enough story, you can take a plate number into the DMV, pay their $2 fee and get the registered owners name and address.
