4" cat

Based on the advice of friends, I decided to improve an already great truck (05 F350 4WD SB Crew) by changing the exhaust system to a 4" turbo back. My current home province (Sask) does not emmisions test but I am moving to Ontario in the spring and will have to have the truck inspected, including smog testing. So, I began looking for a 4" cat and did find a company making them. During a phone call to them they said their 4" high flow diesel cat was designed and built for a F7.3. So, here's the question. Are the flow volumes and other exhaust characteristics of the 6.0 similar to the 7.3? Should I be concerned about installing this cat on my system? Comments and opinions appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Don't waste your money on the A/M Cat. The OEM Cat has very little restriction and you will see virtually no improvement by installing the A/M Cat. Just install the 4" turbo back ehaust (BTW the DP is 3.5") and you are good to go.

My 4" A/M exhaust system is turbo back and as such does not include a cat. I garbaged the stock exhaust system including the stock cat. I am looking to install a 4" cat to ensure the truck will pass emmisions testing. Is an aftermarket 4" cat designed for a ford 7.3, compatible with the 6.0 engine?

I do not know, you will have to asked the manufactures of the A/M Cat. Why did you throw away the factory Cat?

hey do you think there is much difference between a straight piped 4 inch vs no cat 4inch turbo back MBRP system as far as loudness goes?

I don't know about a straight piped 4". My only experience is changing a stock system to a turbo back 4" system with the straight through muffler that came with the kit. I like the increased exhaust noise and I like the turbo sound at low rpm's. Its not annoying but it does turn heads a little in traffic and its a lot more fun to drive, especially from 20-50 mph. BTW, I changed the intake to a stage 2 AFE as well. I've noticed a small increase in fuel mileage when towing, maybe 1-2 mpg. Its hard to judge if there is more power but I'm guessing there is little or no increase.
