My RT's were bad, I think. My best was .938. It was a 1/4 mile straightaway. And just the Flowmaster for a modification. Plugged the EGR valve awhile ago, too.
Carpoint lists my truck weighing in at 3957 lbs.
I don't have a tach, so I couldn't tell you when I was shifting.
I was actually just going to watch my friend race. The line to the left was for racing, the line to the right was for spectators. Literally at the last second I decided to go left. It was really fun, even in this truck.
Oh yeah - this is not a joke! The racing stopped for a few minutes because someone had broken down on the track. I was in the staging area and couldn't see what was up. The announcer came on the PA and said sorry for the delay, but the S-10 that had just gone "left some stuff behind!"
Don't feel bad, My carbed 300 went a 21.xx, very embarassing. It is 4 wheel drive so I'm sure it is plenty heavy and that 3 foot long shifter makes it impossible to shift fast. Oh well, it was just to see what it would do, I don't plan on doing it again, thats what I have the car for.
>My friends' Ranger with a 4.0 V6 was in the mid 17's, FYI.
I suspect you have a 3.08 rear end and the ranger probably has a 3.73. Also, put an 8000 pound trailer on both trucks and I suspect you will leave the Ranger in the dust!
INLINE SIX POWER!
300 Cubic Inches of Low RPM Truck Torque! And twin-I-beams too!
"Drive a stick young man! There'll be time for automatics when you're old and unable."
That's the cool thing about the drag races at PIR on Saturday night - every kind of car and truck is there. Believe it or not, I did not have the slowest time! They announce the times over the PA after each race. I think the 300 beat an Escort. Of course, the Cheville I went against blew me away, but the GTI the next time around I beat off the line and nearly had all the way. There are lot of slow - a$$ Honda Civics there, as well as real fast hot rods.
It's probably a little harsh on the engine, so it was just a one time thing. Unless...
was that the orange one that they later pulled off the line for being too loud? were you there the night the fight broke out in the staging lanes? punk kids
Yeah, I was there that night with the kids. They were not even racing! Basically they were walking down the staging area and just trying to fight with someone. I guess they found someone towards the back.
The orange S-10 wasn't the one that broke down. He drove that thing on out of PIR and over to Delta park. Not exactly street legal! Several people were kicked out for running too loud.
So did you race that engine pictured in your post?
17.58@73. Hopefully I can improve on that tomorrow night. I installed a limited slip diff last week when I rebuilt the rear end. With two wheels pulling and what I hope will be a better fuel curve maybe I can get in the 16's.
Got down to 17.41@74.38 last night. The engine is pretty much stock, just exhaust and fuel system mods. Havn't done anything internal. Yet. I'm working a trade for another engine that I can rebuild to replace the current one which has over 220k miles. My goal with the new engine is to go 15's with carefully prepped stock replacement parts. Everyone insists that it can't be done, but everyone also told me this engine would never go faster than 19 seconds.
