cummins conversion???
I have been kicking around the idea of putting 5.9l cummins in my 72f100. Some questions i have. a guy that comes into where i work bought a 2001 dodge 3500 rollover w/90k on it. He says he everything to change it over engine w/computors,radiator,intercooler,exhaust,all accesories on the front of the engine,6speed trans, and transfer-case-but it is cracked ,coil springs and the frame is still there so maybe i could the crossmembers. The only thing missing that i know of is the turbo he used it on his other truck. Is my 79 f150 frame ,suspension and brakes able to handle a 1100lb eng or should be looking to get a 3/4 ton to put it in. Is there anything else i might ask him if has to make this work or should i just pass on the idea? And what is this worth $$$ wants me to make him a offer. Any ides or suggestions would be helpful.

Is your 72 a 4X4? If so, you are going to need the transfer case to go with the Cummins. What is it worth to you? I would say it will cost a pretty $ to make it all work. Of course, with a cutter and welder, just about anything is possible. Going into a 150 might just be a stretch, but then you will of course have to buy another truck to put the motor into.
