I have a couple things that i don,t know exactly what they are. I got an OASIS report on my dad's 2004 he just purchased, and a few things showed up. A fuel header at 17k, dont know exactly what that is and how major, and an EBP at 23k, same for it. He's taking it to the ford dealer to get it checked out. He's had it a week gets about 14mpg highway and 10mpg towing 9000lb camper. They told him it should be doing better like 13 towing 18- 20 hwy. My 2003 with the 7.3 gets 10 towing the same camper 17.5 hwy. So does it sound like it's got issues. It's an 2004 f-350 srw long bed king ranch 3:73s. It's an awesome truck.
the fuel header is the block on the fuel conditioning module on the frame where the fuel lines are. it contains the water in fuel sensor and i assume that was the reason for the replacement. also the ebp sensor is the exhaust backpressure sensor. we had some issues with the sensors shorting out.
diesels are not rated for fuel mileage due to the fact of what they are. the only thing you can do perform a boost test. as long as it is in spec, then your truck is doing what it should. you may want to check air pressure in your tires and see what gear you have.
My 2004 crewcab gets about 14 around town, 16 hwy and about 12 towing my 6000 lb travel trailer(I kept good records on a 8000 mile trip from Pa to Montana). Sounds like his MPG is in the ballpark, maybe a little low but driving habits have a huge effect on MPG.
Thank you for your imput, i kind of thought the milage was'nt that bad. Heck he just got rid of a V-10 excursion so i dont know what he's whining about. It's just a new toy and he does'nt really know whats what yet.
