Updated my gallery, finally got a free couple of hours to start work. 3 and a half hours to remove the front clip by myself. Not bad considering many of the bolts had 54 years of seize. Murphy's law intervened as one of the few bolts I did not want to break, broke off. It was the bottom cab stud for the passeneger fender.
Question for you guys, after some research I am now confused on the engine color. I thought it was Chevy orange but seems like this color may have been period correct for the truck even though the engine is a 71 302?
Ready to pull the engine and tranney to clean them up and get my new mounts in. Hoping to turn it over by Thanksgiving and see if this engine is a keeper.
mines grease and green unlike mertens shiny one ! aint got time to clean it , to busy trying to wear it out drivin' !!!! nice truck though , love it ! and as a side note i cant remember the last time i had time to play . always sumpthin huh ?
Original engine colors are one of the more popular subjects on FTE. Bottom line is Ford went through a bunch of different combos in the 50's and early 60's before they settled on the later 60's/70's Ford blue.
Things were often different between cars and trucks of the same year. If memory serves, somebody put up a year by year chart on FTE a little while ago that listed the block, valve cover, and accessory colors. Try an "engine color" search using the blue bar near the top of the page. Good luck!
Merten, I think your engine compartment looks great. Original with a "patina"!
hmmm ya showed that pic of the shiny one so i figured ya had yours out and polished it up for a hot date there merten . nope yours looks like mine only i think i might have a lil' more of the color on mine . thats the way they should be if they're running , covered in patina , left alone and enjoyed !
