Well guys sounding like the ole F-350 is going to need a couple of batteries before long.Real slow to turn over on first start up of the day. this will be the 3rd set. The original,an then a set of boush. Sure would like suggessions on the next set. Thinking about Optima's. What do ya'll have in mind????????? Oh,It could need a starter rebuild. Not really sure. The ole truck has 154,000 on it.Thanks alot in advance for ya'lls help!!!!!!!!
personally i like walmarts neverstart brand they come with a 3 year free replacement warranty so every year you can just let them go dead and most of the time they will just give you a new one without testing it i have been doing it for years with different vechiles at one point i even had to of them in the living room at the house to power some car amps and subwoofers whenever they crapped out just took them back and got new ones
Wa-Mart's are fair but true they don't last 3 years and even if they do drain them and let them sit outside on the ground for a while. The only reason I say that is 'cause if they are not dead they are gonna. I don't believe in fraud but I do believe in standing behind what you sell. I hate to say it but the dealer has some good ones. Also some little battery shops have good name brands.
i had this problem to and my truck died on me on the road about 45 mins away from luckily i knew a tow truck driver and he took me back the the shop and it ended up being the starter. its a pretty easy replacement before you go out and buy new batteries i would pull it and check.
Thanks,My buddy seems to think it could be the starter also.As for the batteries I don't mind spending the money.I just want to get some that will last,as good as the original batteries did.
the 1000 cca interstate in my charger was installed in 1998, its still works great, it does alot of sitting and has never been on the battery charger.
i am a big fan of motorcraft batteries, they are 79.95 (i thin kall batts went up though) and have a good warrenty with them, 3 year free then its stepped if i remember up to 5 years. i haev used them in plenty of vehicles and love them,
the wallyworlds arent bad, my dieel had them init when i bought them but they dont have a very good reserve time, i pulled them out to use for my lawn mower and stuck my motorcrafts in it that were sitting in the shed for a year untended
there are two main auto battery manufacturers in america, johnson controls and i forget the name of the other, think it's delco. johnson controls makes diehard (sears), walmart, and one of the big nationwide auto parts stores brand. having said that, there are different levels of batteries (gold, silver, everstart, evermaxx) and whatever the brand wants to call em) and it's sometimes hard to coorelate the differents brands levels with others. bunch of garble to say that most of them are the same and keep that in mind when shopping batts.
my starter went bad and took the batts with it. i noticed some slow cranking before that happened.
5 1/2 years and 108K miles on my F-150's Interstate battery and it's never let me down. I can't say a bad thing about it. I have noticed some Interstates seem to leak at the top caps, but mine doesn't seem to too bad.
My PSD has Motorcraft batteries in it, and I've heard nothing but good about them also. In fact, I looked at a different 97 F-250 before I got mine, and it still had the original batteries in it!
When I got my 97, I noticed it cranked over slower than others and suspected the batteries. Had them load tested and they were plenty strong. I replaced the original starter with 143K on it and it now cranks like new.
