I have a 352/390 (still not sure which one it is) and I rebuilt the 2V carb. I am aware of how the float should work and tried adjusting the level. Even after putting in a new kit and adjusting the float level it doesn't look like it is fully shutting off the fuel supply(still trickling out the middle portion). Also while I pulled the top off to mess with the float I noticed that the fuel level would not remain stable but instead would drain out somewhere. Any Ideas? Couldn't figure out why I could get this engine to run until I left #1 plug out and turned it over. Gas shot out of the cylinder. Wayyyyyy too flooded to run, lol. Guess I could get another carb but these seem so simple its hard to believe I screwed this one up.
If gas shot out the cylinder you better be glad you didnt start the engine. Drain the oil and see if it's Kerosene now. You could easily wash the cylinders and screw that engine up. On the upside it's probably clean as **** now LOL..
As to the carb you better pull it off and go through it. Compare it to the diagram on the kit.. sounds like you left something out or didnt get the seat clean or ?
Thanks. I didn't even think of the oil getting messed up. Will drain in the morning. I went back out and pulled the top of the carb off. I cleaned up the old brass seat and will try putting it back in with the orginal float plug in the morning and see if this solves the initial flooding problem.
I've been over the diagram a couple times and everything is straight forward. Did not end up with any extra parts, lol. When the bowl is full of fuel I'm still unsure how it could drain out by itself????? (talking to myself) maybe the idle adjustment screw was screwed in way too far after the rebuild and this is causing the throttle to remain open and causing the mysterious draining??? Getting late and my truck is parked 15ft from the neighbors bedroom window so I guess I'll call it a night.
