Looks like I'm gonna get a break with the weather this week so I'm asking for some help understanding my wiring under the dash. 1st thing is the starter circuit. Stock, 6V positive ground. #1 gauge cables from my battery. Positive side, grounded on the bell close to the starter. Negative side from battery ,#1 gauge, to starter solenoid large post. Other side post, starter solenoid to starter ?#gauge cable. Its a new 6V solenoid and a rebuilt starter motor. The solenoid has one small lead marked s, and it doesn't come out straight, it faces diagonal towards one of the large posts.

to the solenoid is another wire which goes under the dash heres where I'm unclear I think it goes to the Ammeter, and its kinga big I'm not sure what gauge. Than there is the small lead from solenoid that is marked s, that feeds under dash thru firewall too.
Sorry, I can't help you on the 6v positive ground stuff, but if you had a Shop Manual, you would have your answers. They are invaluable. In fact, some guys have two: one with greasy fingerprints all over it and one clean in the house. It has all the electrical schematics and tons of helpful info about how Henry put these things together and how to take them apart.
You can find them on eBay and at some of our sponsors (Motor Haven, for one).
Someone will be along shortly with answers on your electrical stuff to get you going.
Continued; for the dash I have a new 6V key switch, and I found a new 6V starter button from E-bay, Lincoln 6V. One thing that I'm trying to I.D. is this rectangular box that is bolted to the dash under the headlight switch. It has one lead and was hooked up to the old key switch.
I have bought a manual from E-bay and I've been reading on this for a bit, I know its probably a real simple thing to some, but I'm just trying to get on top of it.
I know the starter button has one lead that goes to the solenoid s terminal and grounds to the dash.
I'm not sure what goes where on the key switch and how it functions, but from the book, the negative lead from the coil goes to the key switch and the positive lead from the coil grounds ao the base of the distributor housing. I'm guessing, with the key switch, simply, on, to the right. Off, in the middle, than what to the left? Accessories?

How many use an original 6V positive ground system?
Been a few days since I last post; to make things much more managable I pulled my bench back out. Than I removed my heater fan switch, removed the key switch, removed the starter button, removed the light switch, that was the tricky one until I learned about the release button, all from the dash. Than I removed the directional box from the column. Removed the tattered old taped wire defroster tubes from the heater fan. Vacuumed all the dirt/rust I could get from the lip of the under-dash. trashed the wiring to the rear lights, and clipped the wiring to the headlights and front runners too. Feels good to get rid of that old tattered spliced and taped wiring. I have a question. Do many of you run the stock 6V positive ground system? Thanks, Rick.
I have the original 6V system in my F-2 and F-1, I might change to 12V in my F-4, if I ever get that far on it, so I can pull my car trailer because of the trailer's electric brakes and lights. The only problems I have had with the 6V systems is slow cranking but usually that's only because of dirty or loose connections.
