Just use Krylon fusion. I painted all of my door handles, bed guards, bumper pads, and factory running boards. It took me a couple of hours and 1 & a 1/2 cans. It looks very professional and the paints holds up great on the running boards.
I didn't paint mine to match. I repainted them black. The bed rails are a greyish color from the factory and I did them in black also to go with the black tool box. The only thing I did for prep was wipe it down with a damp rag and again with a dry rag. The Krylon fusion is awesome. It's about $4-5 a can. If I can find my camera I will take some pic's. It made the truck look new again.
that paint ended up looking like ****, couldn't get the surface smooth enough and sanded it with 5 different grits, o well, time to call up ford.....anyone know what they run?
I called Ford a few months ago when I was thinking of replacing the handles, if I remember correctly I think it was $65 each. I'm pretty sure all the Harley models have the black painted door handles.
