Son's '84 BII dies tonight. 2.8 w/ auto, is stock. He says it started bogging down when he hit the brakes and then cut off. Happened twice. When he tried to restart, it turns, cuts out and back fires badly. Yep, that it does. Seems like it's flooding.
Vacumn? I thought the choke was electric .... almost sounds like the timing went way off too.... hence the big back fire.... ICM?
That's what I thought also ... But the hose and all looks good , brakes fine. Found what It think was the problem, the yellow single wire from the module on the side of the distributor was worn and I think sorting on the valve cover. If that what controls the timing advance, I think it threw it out so much it couldn't run.
Regardless, taped that up, found two more vacumn lines to be replaced and got the thing running again. Still rough but driveable.
