I've seen those blowers, and they really won't do much in terms of pressure. They are high flow fans, not high pressure. He probably only gained that power because the stock intake just sucked horribly. Although I'm not sure, I think the PSDs flow more then 200CFM stock.

Using some really bad calculations, I just calculated at 3000RPM, the 7.3 PSD would flow around 400-500CFM

he has it hooked up right after his intake...there is a tremendous amount of more suction created at the intake. from the combination of the intake and the fan sucking more air in it has to be logical that the air flow going in is going to be more then 200cfm. its the 200cfm + what the intake normally sucks in + whatever more force the fan allows the intake to suck in...he is loving it...he can now chirp second gear, which he never was able to do...it is a highly modified buick and i was only wondering if anyone ever heard of it. he checked out the 4" blowers and they produce 300 cfm.

I got a new question...when i was doing the ccv mod i noticed that a piece of the washer for my turbo was chipped off...i bought it used and do not know when that happened. i am considering upgrading the fan, don't have the money to purchase a new turbo, where the hell is that piece from the washer? and the other question, what should i expect installation wise and performance wise after upgrading the fan?

Well as logical as that might sound, air flow doesn't work that way, the fan will begin to act as a restriction as the engine tries to pull in a higher CFM air flow than the fan can deliver.

The graph below shows the CFM air flow into a 7.3L PSD air filter inlet for various levels of boost pressure. If you were to place a 200 CFM fan in the air filter inlet, the fan would drastically hinder the ability of the turbo to pull in the airflow needed by the engine.

I'm not sure I understand your question, but it appears that your compressor wheel has a chipped blade? That compressor wheel is not a fan, and it works to pull in air by slinging the air molecules to the perimeter of the wheel, and through a slot into the compressor housing. A fan works by a completely different mechanism, and it moves air in the front and out the back like an airplane propeller.

If you have a chip missing from your compressor wheel, that causes an imbalance which can cause your turbo to literally blow apart and possibly ruin your engine. That compressor wheel spins at well over 100,000 RPM!

alrighty...its the washer that is chipped...you can see it when you take of the intake from the turbo...its right there...the compressor wheel is fine. however ive been hearing a lot about Xtreme Diesel's X-Wheel Compressor Wheel...

im not in the market for a new turbo, but i am looking to upgrade the compressor wheel, not fan haha, but ive already been told the instructions suck so if anyone out there has the installation instructions (prefferably the one i don't have to take the entire turbo out) that would be phenominal...thanks for your help...also if you have heard anything good or bad about the compressor wheel im interested in please comment. i haven't purchased it yet but will in the near future.
