New Rangers?
Hello I was looking at new rangers today and want to know if any problems that i should know about . I want to get a 4x4 stick extended cab just like my 1987 but I guess they dont make the 2.9v6 any more so they want to sell me a 4.0V6 are they good motor my 1987 has 30000 on it and it still going i just want something new

It is an awesome engine, for sure get the 4.0. Try to stay away from the 3.0, it's not a bad engine it's just that it gets about the same mpg as the 4.0, but has the same hp of the ranger 2.3 duratec 4 cylinder. The 4.0 has 207 hp and 235 foot pounds of torque, a great engine for a 4x4. With my 04 4x4 with the 4.0 and manual trans, I would get 22 mpg around home and 25 highway. I live and work in the country, so I did no real city driving, so resualts will vary. It has great power to weight ratio and would run rings around your old 2.9, you will be impressed.

Is that 30,000 or 300,000 mi? If it's the former then I would sit on it like an old mother hen if the body is good. If it's 300,000mi then I say go for the 4.0 new ride. I've owned both ranger/engine combos and the 4.0 is the hands down winner, period.
