Replacing 12v power plug

My power point socket on the dash is busted. The center part broke loose. Does anyone know how to get that out of the dash?

Been searching this forum for a while for an answer to this question....I think my search is fruitless. If this hasn't been answered in 4yrs, then I think it's safe to say that no one has ever pulled the 12v power point out of the dash. (And getting that connector off the back of it is impossible for anyone that doesn't have 'Burger King' hands)

Reason I'm looking??? Little child + coin (dime/penny, not sure) = new power point

Most of the power outlets can be replaced by unscrewing the "shield" metallic surrounding the unit.Lefty loosey, righty tighty....The B+ connector will perhaps have to be pried off,but it is just a spade connector.
Welcome to the forum!
Once you get into the rear of the dash, a pair of channel-locks works wonders.

Welllll, that didn't work so good. It would not turn at all. There are some plastic keys that keep it from rotating. What's so frustrating is that with the glove box down and the center bezel removed you can get a hand on it from either side, you just can't see it very well.

I decided that it was coming out tonight, and sure enough I broke a tab. There are a pair of tabs at the top of the power point that hold it in. Even with it out I could not tell which way they are supposed to move, if at all. I took some pics (albeit, not so good)...let me try to post them....

My apologies..Its been quite a while since I have had to replace one..IT was as I described.Evidently(according to your pictures) there is MUCH more plastic involved.

The only solution I found was to pry out the power point with a small screw driver, breaking the plastic clips and then purchase a new one, replacing it. Best area to pry is the riight side were the flip cover hinges.
