How are the rest of you truck guy's handling the gas prices? Here in Ozark Mo it is at $2.97 for low octane unleaded, and you know diesel is even worse. So with the big blue 79 parked in the driveway, I'm actually thinking about selling............... On a good day I may get 7/8 miles a gallon. Is anybody else having the same thought with they're toy's. A street bike is starting to sound good.
The gas price is actually why I am on this site. My farm truck/horse hauler is a 72 International 3/4 ton. While I LOVE it and I would drive it from here to alaska with no worries. It get 6-8 mpg. I just bought a 1990 F250 which I am in the process of rebuilding the 351w and am in hopes of 12-15mpg when I am done. Then selling the IH.
Nothing against the ford but if it weren't for the gas prices I wouldn't ever sell that IH.
HAHAHAHA I just bought a little 1990 Suzuki DR350S. So far, after rejetting the carb, cutting up the airbox and putting a bigger header pipe to an FMF exhaust (Yeah, I do soup up everything!) it's getting about 53MPG!! AND, it's damned fun little bike. It's a dual sport so it's basically a street legal motocross bike. And yes, it jumps better than my crew cab diesel too!!

Bob
yep i would sell! buy the way i have a 2005 kawasaki want to buy it?
I have been thinking about selling my self, I have way to meny projects. They all need money. I have drove the truck once in 4 mothers since i got the car. but it only cost 22. dollar to keep it on the insurance so i don't know.
My dad just bought a 97 F-150 (4X4) mostly for the mileage. He has my old 88 F-150 (4X4) and it gets 10 MPG on the highway (8 in town). Nothing major wrong with it, but too expensive to drive a lot. Doubt he gets a lot out of it when he sells it for just that reason though.
Since the wife insisted, I've got to sleep sometime, on a Prius neither of my trucks gets driven nearly as much. At least not commuting the 100+ daily miles.
Been averaging 52mpg with my heavy foot. When she drives it's around 55mpg.
By comparison, my 99 Cummins averages 21-22mpg when not hauling and I need to clean to IAT Sensor again.
The 88 F150 averages 16-17mpg and needs the new HEGO I have on hand, just haven't been able to get the old one (i think the factory original) out. Also need to cleanor replace the EGR valve again. Not to mention replace the oil pan gasket.
No plans to sell either truck. Still have need of haulers around the farm.
