i havent had much experiance with the sct tuners. i have the bully dog triple dog currently and really like it. so i may have to try it, cuz ive heard really good things about them with the powerstrokes.
I started out with a Bully Dog Triple Dog on my '06 6.0 before I found this site. The Bully Dog is under my couch, for sale, and my transmission is thanking me for buying an X3. The X3 is cheaper, Matt will send you free custom tunes, and you and the pickup will be a lot happier in the long run.
yeah a few of my customers have Bully Dog modules, of course I take em out for a blast, they do go pretty well off the line and they claim decent mileage. But I will tell you the shift too light and too late on WOT runs, they also defuel so it feels like the truck slows down or the trans is slipping on WOT shifts. I suppose if you neve drove another truck w/ an Spartan SCT it would be GOOD when compared to stock. Once you have driven Matts files in an SCT you realize by comparison that you truck is GREAT. If you like to have your transmission slipping then get one.
I did the tranny relearn strategy and everything for the BD, and never ran it on extreme. The shifting was sporadic, at best, and it would simply not shift if I tried a run at WOT. When I let off and it did shift, it felt like everything was coming apart. It was not acceptable for me.

I to traded my cummins in for a psd. Found the quality much better in the ford but miss the economy and easy power to be made with the cummins. The biggest weakness I found with the dodge was the transmission, but with a DTT replacement transmission and an Edge programmer it would outrun my stock psd with a sparton tuned sct. That may not be the case as Matt's tunes evolve.
