NumberDummy- man or machine???
NEW GAME: STUMP THE NumberDummy
Bill has the experience behind the counter...but their are others on here that have the info. He uses Microfiche ..I use books and Discs.
The "others" on here aren't Ford partsmen, retired or otherwise.I'm a retired Ford partsman, not a mechanic. Most of my replies are parts related. When it comes to what ounce flywheel goes where, or how to measure the stroke, or predicting the weather,
I'm clueless. Parts catalogs don't list that information. I'm a p/c dummy...clueless on how to post links and pics. Don't tell me, I don't wanna know how. No gallery or Avatar? By the time I shrunk the pics to fit, they were as blurry as a movie starlets eyes on a casting couch.Parts catalogs:
1948/56 truck: original Ford bound paper catalog-two volumes (Text-Illustrations), and now, because the text catalog is falling apart (Waldo chewed up part of it
)...on a CD.1953 Ford and Mercury truck bound paper catalog.
1957/63 truck: original Ford bound paper catalog-3 volumes.
1964/72 truck: CD.
1973/79 truck: Ford microfiche slides-3 versions. Two early & the last versions.
1980/89 truck: Ford microfiche slides, new catalog on CD.
Cars: 1949/59; 1965/72; 1973/79 on CD's.
Car: 1960/64 Ford bound paper catalog-two volumes.
Misc: Ford Master Cross Reference catalogs, Ford O.S.I. (Obsolete-Supercede-Interchange) catalogs.
Over 2,000 books on Automotive history. (Waldo, Lady and Gideon aren't allowed in the library).
Additional parts catalogs: Packard 1935/56; Studebaker 1953/66.
Ford's basic parts numbering system: 35 years in the biz, so I can rattle off 1000's of Ford basic part numbers from memory. When someone knows the basic part number for a certain item, he/she doesn't have to spend time searching the illustrations for it.
Off the cuff: No parts catalogs required to list full part numbers for: 1965/68 Mustangs and 1963/64 Galaxies.

) posting parts numbers, photos, illustrations, etc. is amazing. It takes time to look up those kinds of things and the information and knowledge shared without anything in return except for a "thank you", is priceless. Thank you.
I wrote the O/P privately about paying special attention to ONE person in the forums.
I personally don't like it when people have done it for me.
I think of it as person who accepted an oscar and forgot to mention one or more important people to that huge audience.THink the Ugly Betty start who forgot Salma Hayek... how in the world does one forget Salma Hayek and her ......s?
It makes other people who make a contribution feel unappreciated.
Bill you do a fantastic job on FTE and a huge ASSET to the fold. (see what said in "my named" embarrasing thread)
IMO, people are best thanking those that helped them in the thread they were helped in.
It takes a special type of person to sit day in and day out offering their services for free.
I can only imagine the day Bill and I get to meet personally .... stumbling over each getting one another a beer or something
Trending Topics

btw: The most helpful, dedicated person on FTE is you, Dennis...and I don't need to type a thread tellin' everyone that either.

all very much IMHO....of course
And all that take the time to help on this site are constantly recognized in the forums which is why this is one site that has been consistently popular and productive.
