2nd big 05' problem
typical morning - start the truck up in the garage let it sit for about 10 seconds - back out to where the exhaust is not going in the garage, let it sit for about a minute and then proceed down the street to the end of the subdivision. Turn heat on and get warm.
Tuesday morning I dont my normal morning - end of the subdivision turn the heat on and it is still cold(32 degrees outside) okay no problem about another 2 miles down the road turn the heat back on - nothing but cold air, another couple miles get on the interstate - no heat still only cold air. I get to the office a hour later and still cold air - pop the hood, and the orifice behind the oil fill I disconnect and reconnect - great heat now works.
Wednesday morning - do my typical morning - no heat again. not as cold 40 degrees outside - get about 9 miles or so from the house and notice my temp is rising - and rising fast. before I could pull over the check guages light comes on and it is in the red - overheating. No steam coming from under the hood, no more than normal smoke from exhaust. Im stopped beside a guardrail on the interstate - so I let it sit for 10 minutes or so and start it up go another 1/8 mile to the exit and park it. still no steam, no excessive smoking, checked the oil level and it seems a little higher than normal but not excessive and looks clean, the coolant reservoir though is empty. Not knowing for sure how much pressure the cap is under before overheating and now with it being hot - I have it towed to the dealership. That was yesterday - - service manager says it will be tuesday before they even get it in the shop.
you think it is the heads again?
