If have not already done so, let me welcome you to FTE. Had to replace firewall cover on 65 F100, the original was in such sad shape. Anything would have been an improvement, it certainly reduced some of the engine and road noise. Purchased from DC (C4TZ-8101670-ABS) and found it's not quite like original material, it's more of a synthetic hard backed material but please with results. Actually, installed carpet where it's just above the column so not much of the cover was exposed. There certainly is a difference in cost between 4X4 firewall cover and the std cab. Also place the jute type alum. backed insulation on floor pans then secured it to the floor with the alum tape before setting carpet in place, that helped a great deal. Initially used the 12X12 petrolium based insulation pads inside door panels but eventually removed them, if were to do over, I would use the alum backed jute, or something simular.
