2008 6.4 built for export

I am curious if Ford has designed a 6.4 F series truck for export to countries that don't have emission standards. If they do, I wonder what MPG they are getting minus the emissions crap

Nearly all countries have emissions standards, but none as stringent as the USA, for now. We export trucks to Mexico that are US04 compliant because Mexico recognizes EuroIV emissions and not EPA or CARB. Come 2013 when Europe, Japan, and North America emissions are the same, then we'll see more imports and exports moving freely. Basically, we'll end up with "global" engines.

I still think they should crack down on gassers, not diesels. Gassers are the ones that need all this emissions crap, not diesels.

Why do you say that? Anything that burns fossil fuels produces CO,CO2,and NOx. Diesels also produce PM where gassers don't. Diesels are just as guilty.

I understand diesels produce their share of emissions, but my concern is the limitations are becoming so restrictive that the mileage is suffering significantly. You would think EPA would be more concerned with the amount of pollutants related to the amount of miles driven, rather than what comes out the tailpipe at a given second.

Also there is a lot more gallons of gas being burned on our nations highways than diesel. You would think they would go after the gassers just to get the most bang for the buck so to speak.

Actually, they are...sort of. The CAFE requirements are being raised to push OEMs to produce more fuel efficient vehicles, mainly gassers.

I, too, don't understand why the EPA is so short sided. We clean up a diesel only to have it consume more natural resources. Talk about an exaggerated oxymoron.
