Coasting woes...
Thanks in advance!
Steve
I really don't have a clue to offer, but if it were me the first step I'd do would be to change out the filter, and to change (all of) the fluid with a totally synthetic ATF. If after making sure it's not a lubricating problem, I would only then look elsewhere.
But for the other helpers, how many miles do you have on the tranny?
When was the last time you checked the rear-end gear-oil level or changed it? (Mine was really low with only a hint of an extremely minor looking wet spot / leak.)
The last time you lubricated the U-joints?
It all adds up.

OK then, I should change out the ATF fluid and replace with (insert name brand here) fluid. Check the U-joints for lubrication. Check rear-end gear oil.
Ok I have done none of these since I bought the truck. About 11,000 miles ago it just started doing this in the last week or two. And the tranny has 106K on it. At least that is what the odometer says and I was not informed of a rebuild or replacement tranny when I bought it.
Change it all out (all fluids, including brake and steering) since you don't know the history of the truck - and change the fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, (new U-joints?) and ALL of the normal stuff you have to make new when planning to keep a vehicle & crossing the 100,000 mile mark.
There's just no great way to diagnose symptoms over the internet without you having made sure it's not a problem that shouldn't be an issue in the first place.
