This is the toy to get this year. My daughter got them for her birthday last week. We took them away from her. If your kids have them I suggest you do the same.
Australian officials ordered a popular Chinese-made children's toy pulled from the shelves after scientists found it contained a chemical that converts into a powerful "date rape" drug when ingested.
Three children have been hospitalized over the past 10 days after swallowing beads from Bindeez, named Australia's toy of the year at an industry function earlier this year.
The beads in the toy, sold by Australia-based Moose Enterprises, are arranged into designs and fuse together when sprayed with water.
Scientists say the beads contain a chemical that the human body metabolizes into the so-called "date rape" drug gamma hydroxy butyrate. When eaten, the compound — made from common and easily available ingredients — can induce unconsciousness, seizures, drowsiness, coma and death.
Seems like a semi legit way to distribute drugs to me!! How many college kids were
doing the dots at parties. Whooaaa Dude you got some aqua dots man, I'm all messed
up on the dots man! I wonder how many parents found their 8 year olds all knocked out or was it just some lab doing a test of Chinese made toys for lead and other bad
stuff that was manufactured with.
I'll bet those Aqua-Dots are being trafficked on the street as we speak. As soon as the danger was announced, you can be sure those things absolutely flew off the shelves.

Kids were hospitalized with the illness....Chinese doing tests??? You're kidding right?
I too was questioning the wisdom of the media advertizing the exact nature of the chemical, since many will now hoarde these things for that intended use.
Why could they not just have said "they are toxic if ingested"...and spared the details?
I sure hope if they find that a toy is extremely combustible that they just tell us that without adding "these would make great Molatov Cocktails."
You're right, there isn't anything funny. The original intent of the post was to warn parents about the dangers of this "toy" though and it is good that it was posted.
President Bush needs to be on the phone to China and letting them know that no more of their junk will be coming into the United States until they get this and the rest of their manufacturing "mishaps" under control. How many toys from China have been pulled from the shelves this year?
After a few of these China toys made the news and then a few more and yet a few more, I have to question if this is not intentional in some way by China?
