well to make a long story short... the transmission code is u but when i took it in since teh od light was flashing the code i got was a 628. being as 628 is a tc slippage for an e4od do i have an e4od or a 4r70w? btw its a 95 f150 302 if that helps and temp gauge was nearly redline

Trans code U = 4R70W

Code 628 = Converter clutch Lock-Up error (E4OD) [most likely resulting in TC slippage like you said]

I would just assume that the code is used by all the electronic transmissions of this era, and not just the E4OD. You can confirm which trans you have using this chart:

its def a 4r70w transmission pan....whats the deal thenif a get a code for the e4od?

Like I said, even though it specifies that the code is for e4od, I'm sure it's just a generic slippage code for all the electronic trannies.
